Emeritus Prof. Dato' Dr. Hood bin Mohd. Salleh

Prof. Hood is a prominent Malaysian educationist having taught in Universiti Kebangsan Malaysia (UKM) for over 40 years. He is the foremost expert of indigenous peoples in Malaysia in areas of Anthropology and Sociology, Medication Anthropology & Ethnology, Design Anthropology as well as Creative Technology and Heritage.

His research fields focused on sustainability and community wellbeing and local and global indigenous communities as well as impact of climate change on these communities.

During his long, distinguished career he has taken up the leadership post of Chair of Malay Studies in University of Wellington, New Zealand and Principal Fellow at the Institute of Environment and Development (LESTARI) at UKM. He holds a bachelor’s degree (first class honors) from University of Western Australia and several post-doctorate degrees (D.Phil) from University Oxford.
